It’s been 12 weeks since I made the switch and started getting my CSA box from Sarvodaya Farms and I am absolutely loving it. It was a little shocking at first, getting all those strange veggies in my box, but I’m feeling way more comfortable with it now. So much so that I didn’t even bat an eyelash at that crazy purple sweet potato thing that showed up in my box this week.
One of the things that I count on every week is the salad mix that they include in every box. I’m normally not a huge salad fan. I like salad just fine but I have to be in the mood to get really excited about it. Thanks to my new CSA, I get excited about salad every single week. The salad mix is the best I’ve ever had in my life. Every leaf in there is packed with flavor and there are always fun surprises tucked into the mix like carrots or radishes. They also usually include some herbs which gives it that much more flavor. This salad mix gets five stars all the way around. The best.
Besides getting pumped about salad each week, this CSA has also had the added benefit of pushing me to learn how to cook Indian food which has been so much fun to learn about. I’ve had a lot of fun learning which spices to use, when and how to use them, and I’m starting to see some patterns emerge which is exciting. For me, that’s when I start to feel way more comfortable with improvisation and manipulating recipes to make them my own. I have been tinkering in my kitchen quite a bit over the past few weeks and I have a lot of recipes coming for you… so stay tuned!
