Here we are, 48 days into 2017!  It is still winter and here in LA it has been pretty damn wintery.  It has been raining a ton which is great because we need it so bad and it also has the added bonus of making it actually feel like winter for a change.  Over the past 11 years I have spent many a January in LA enjoying 80 degree days at the beach.  All this rain is a welcome change though.  Everything is so incredibly green and it also creates the perfect environment to cozy up at home with something hearty and warm.  I’ve been getting a ton of greens and citrus in my boxes lately and I’ve been playing around with how to stretch those greens into something or many things that will keep me going throughout the week.  I plan on sharing soon!

I thought this would be a good time to check in on my goals for 2017 and share where I’m at with all of that, you know, to keep myself honest.  The Zero Waste thing is going pretty well.  I’m learning a lot about my habits and I’ve been posting about that regularly so if you’ve been following along you know.  I also did a pretty good job of the 20 posts in 30 days challenge.  I was one post short but the whole exercise got me into a rhythm of not obsessing over every word and hitting “publish” more often.  I became the Lead of my Nextdoor neighborhood group and I also went door to door on my street and made some new neighbor friends and got their contact info.  Everyone was so incredibly nice and they were so appreciative of me coming by to say hello!  I have to admit I was pretty nervous that people were going to be yelling at me to get off their lawns but it couldn’t have been more the opposite experience.  It really encouraged me to keep going and to plan events so we can get to know each other and build a solid community.  I am also in the process of getting my Iranian passport so that I can go visit family in May.  At this point it’s a waiting game and I’m still not sure when I’ll be getting my Iranian passport so the trip may not even happen this year but I’m doing everything in my power to make it happen.  I have reached out to a couple of other bloggers and I have tentative plans to co-create with some pretty cool people.  The next step is to reach out to even more people and plan more stuff because this seems to be a bit of a numbers game.  So once again, if you know of anyone who you think I should collaborate with, let me know in the comments below!!!
