I don’t normally eat a ton of bread at home but I always keep a loaf in the fridge so that I can make myself toast for breakfast when I need something fast and super satisfying. But I’m not talking about just any old toast, what I’m talking about is basically an open faced breakfast sandwich. And under this category there are two main sub-categories: sweet and savory. And under savory there are two more distinctions, avocado toast and everything else.
Avocado Toast Obsession
I live in California and because avocado is grown here it’s in everything. If it isn’t in everything, you can add it to just about anything. For me, this is a major selling point. I love avocado and I’m happy to have so many opportunities to enjoy it, especially for breakfast. Avocado toast is one of my favorite go-tos for a quick, delicious breakfast. But recently I’ve met a few people who HATE avocado. I have a hard time wrapping my mind around what they find so offensive about it but it made me think about other options for savory breakfast toast. If not avocado, then what?! Below are a few of my favorite avocado toast combos and few non-avocado ideas for those of you who don’t love delicious things.
For the Occasional Sweet Tooth
Every now and again I do wake up craving something on the sweeter side and toast is often a fantastic quick fix. I mean, a donut would be better but thankfully there are no donuts in walking distance from my house. There is always the tried and true butter and jam but if I am trying to make a meal out of it I usually go a little further than that.
And then of course there’s the best of both worlds! Make one sweet and one savory! Or make a whole bunch of them, cut them in half and mix and match. Have fun! Go nuts! Indulge! This is the most important meal after all!
