So. Many. Things. Going. On.

Things have been moving and shaking around here!  Last week I was asked to cater the Ampersand Dinner at the Hedley & Bennett apron factory and event space.  Ampersand Dinners are an innovative format for a networking event where attendees are not allowed to talk about what they do for a living but instead are given note cards with questions on them to guide the conversation.  It’s a super fun game to play and at the end we go around and try to guess what everyone does for a living before they reveal it to us.  There are always some big surprises!  Hedley & Bennett is a woman-run local designer and manufacturer of aprons.  Their logo is an ampersand which made it fitting to have the event there.  If you follow chefs on social media or if you live in LA you have definitely seen these aprons on chefs, cooks and service staff.  Ellen, the founder has hustled her ass off and her aprons are everywhere.  It is an understatement to say that I admire her.  I was honored to be in such great company and did a fun menu of food that represented the multicultural melting pot that is LA.  The meal went off without a hitch, everyone seemed to enjoy the food and I got to meet some really great new people.

This week I hosted Persian New Year at my house.  I invited a bunch of my neighbors over which was so much fun.  I feel so lucky that I get to live next door to some really amazing people.  A bunch of my other friends came over and it really turned into a New Year’s party that went well into the wee hours.  Needless to say, I was very tired yesterday.

Tonight I will be the guest on my friend’s podcast called “What’s It like to…” where he interviews people about the interesting things they do or have done.  I’m going to talk about my CSA experience and writing a cooking blog so it should be fun because I love to talk about this stuff!!!  I will also be feeding him because I got this amazing CSA haul with two giant heads of broccoli and cauliflower and I don’t want them to go to waste since I will be out of town this weekend.  I’m going on a much deserved little retreat to clear my mind and relax so that I can get back to doing all this cool stuff!!

The following weekend I’m really excited to be participating in Artisanal LA’s Spring Marketplace by doing a cooking demo for the Cooking Laboratory stage.  If you live in LA or happen to be in town on April 1st, come on down and say hi!!!  And there will be more to come after this so stay tuned!!!
